City of Long Beach – Findings: The “Let’s Bash the Previous Administration” Edition

Posted on our city website is a PDF which details some of the City’s findings and reforms from the past two weeks since the new administration has taken office. (LINK or view the images below.)

Following their promise of being transparent, our new Administration is basically outlining what went wrong with our financials. I would love to know who got the Newsday delivery, because that’s just plain creepy and wrong. Isn’t that stealing from us tax payers?

  1. Merriam-Webster defines perjury as “the voluntary violation of an oath or vow either by swearing to what is untrue or by omission to do what has been promised under oath.” Our elected city council members took an oath when they assumed office. Can it be considered perjury if the elected officials from the previous administration told us our finances were fine, especially during the election season, when it was far from the true? Besides voting them out, from a legal perspective how are elected officials held accountable when they don’t tell the truth and act against the public interest?
