“would tie into an existing undersea natural gas pipeline to send LNG tanker cargo ashore at Long Beach, N.Y. for delivery to Long Island” [UPDATED]

[updated April 5th] A reliable source basically just told me this is going to be LNG WARS: Episode II. It’s the same LNG company that was involved the last time, but they’re trying to slip through a loophole which will bypass our governor approval.

Somebody forwarded me this article from the Huffington Post: Atlantic Ocean Seismic Research Could Be Opened Up To Oil And Gas Companies.  Although oil drilling and LNG are two different things, perhaps the LNG project could somehow piggyback if anything gets approved. Either way, WE ARE SCREWED AND POWERLESS CITIZENS WHILE OUR GOVERNMENT SELLS US OUT TO POWERFUL RICH CORPORATIONS. Maybe I am jumping to conclusions here, but it’s something we need to follow closely.

“The possibility of oil exploration in the Atlantic drew immediate criticism from environmental groups, who are concerned about its effects on marine life, including endangered whales.

“Today’s announcement is great for petroleum companies, but horrible news for our coastlines and a potentially deadly blow to ocean fisheries and wildlife,” Natural Resources Defense Council President Frances Beinecke said in a statement.

[April 4th] This is old news right? This article really didn’t just get published @ 2:51 PM, Apr. 4, 2012. Did it?

READ: Offshore gas terminal plan shifts closer to Long Island which says:

“Liberty Natural Gas has shifted the proposed site for its liquid natural gas port about 35 miles east of Monmouth County, and significantly downsized its expectations for delivery volumes amid a rapidly shifting natural gas marketplace.

The latest site 19 miles south of Zachs Bay, Long Island, would tie into an existing undersea natural gas pipeline to send LNG tanker cargo ashore at Long Beach, N.Y. for delivery to Long Island customers during peak demand times of the year, Liberty president J. Roger Whelan said Wednesday.

WTF? I thought they stopped this LNG-crap. Now we have to go through this again? Somebody please tell me this article was posted on a delay – like a few years. Developing…..
