We Do Not Want The Port Ambrose Project!!! (some articles linked here)

It would be political suicide to let this plan slip through, as witnessed at last night’s Liberty Natural Gas hearing at the Allegria Hotel. Newsday writes:

“A proposal to build a liquefied natural gas terminal off the coasts of New York and New Jersey received a largely negative response Tuesday at a public hearing in a suburban New York community still struggling to recover from the effects of Superstorm Sandy. (Source – Hearing held on natural gas plan for NY-NJ coast)

Uh.. yeah DUH!

This project could potentially destroy our whole entire coast. Not to mention all the fracking that could be done upstate. Fracking basically wipes all the nutrients out of the ground, leaving it a barren wasteland where not even weeds can grow. So the destruction of our environment would all be in the name of jobs? What the f*** are 600 potential jobs? WHO CARES? Can’t we move on from all this? What about greener jobs? Think of how many people you can hire tacking solar panels to roofs across New York?

ATTENTION POLITICIANS: BRING US GREEN JOBS  &  GREEN ENERGY AND YOU WILL BE OUR HEROS. Don’t say it’s in the name of global warming because 50% of the people don’t believe it exists or they will just call you a stinking liberal. Say the Green jobs are for cutting down on pollution. That, we can all agree on. A safe and clean environment will keep all of us happy.

Also, I know it’s not the same thing, but this article appeared on CNN last night: Coast Guard responds to natural gas leak in Gulf of Mexico. In the article:

“A natural gas leak in the Gulf of Mexico has left a four-mile-wide “rainbow sheen” on the water’s surface south of Louisiana, the Coast Guard said Tuesday…..

There is a concern that the gas leak could have a toxic effect on marine life, even if it is stopped by Wednesday.”

I am sure when that Gulf project was approved, they assured everybody how safe it would be……..  total bullshit. These guys are lying to us. I think all they care about is money in their pocket. I also think we have to watch and see whose pockets they put money in as well..

  1. I wonder how effective a petition on Change.org might be – and to whom it would be addressed. I have emailed Cuomo, Weisenberg, Sheldon Silver, Schumer, Gillibrand, US Reps Carolyn McCarthy and Carolyn Maloney. Who else might throw their weight behind a veto? Skelos is pro fracking and King won’t take a stand either way.
