We hope everyone is staying warm and safe with all of the cold and snowy conditions. A lot of exciting things are happening here at the Recreation Department, and we want to keep you informed so you don’t miss out on a thing. This past week we held our annual Snowflake Race. Close to 500 runners braved the weather and all are to be congratulated on a great performance.

February break is almost upon us, and we would like you to know that we will be hosting a 3 on 3 basketball tournament on Tuesday, February 18th, Wednesday, February 19th, andThursday, February 20th from 9am-2pm at Lindell School Gymnasium. On Tuesday the tournament will be for boys and girls in grades 2-4. On Wednesday the tournament will be for boys and girls grades 5-7, and on Thursday the tournament will be for boys and girls in grades 8-10. You may enter as a single player or a team.  Click here for an application. There will be day of tournament registration available to all participants. If you enjoy basketball this is one thing you sure don’t want to miss.

We would like to remind you that we are currently accepting applications for our indoor soccer program for Pre-K and K through 5th grade for boys and girls that will begin on Wednesday, March 5th. The program will meet at Long Beach Middle School, and is a great way to learn the basic fundamentals of soccer in a safe, fun, and friendly atmosphere. There are a limited number of spots available so if you like soccer please sign up today and secure your spot.

Over break we will be hosting a free trial of Learn to Skate on Sunday, February 23rd from2:45pm – 3:15pm for ages 4 and up at the Long Beach Ice Arena. This is a great way to introduce ice skating in a positive way, and it is absolutely free. Please remember to check out our President’s Week Ice Arena Schedule as many sessions have been added over the break.
