  1. If I read the notice on their site correctly, they’re including a 20 mile bike ride, starting from another point and merging with the run later on. Again, the link the author provided:

There’s also a phone number, etc there for more specific info.

  2. Hi Kathy,

The official “ride” is part of the main event taking place that morning in Rockaway. Here in Long Beach, it will be a 5K Community Run, which really means run, walk, skip, dance… Whatever participants are up for! The spirit of the run is just to bring the community together for a positive event, which will support a follow-on “Run, Ride, Rebuild” event coming to Long Beach in the spring. If you can’t make it, you can still sign up for the “Off Site” team and dedicate whatever workout you choose to do that weekend to Sandy rebuilding projects, and you will still receive a T-shirt in the mail. Feel free to email if you have any additional questions, and follow the event page on Facebook via the link above. Thanks!

  3. How does running in this race help the 2580 families who are still living elsewhere because their damaged homes have not been repaired?

  4. Section 8, Race2Rebuild raises funds to support Rebuilding Together, a nonprofit that rebuilds thousands of homes for low-income homeowners in devastated areas over the past 20 years. That is how running in this race helps.

  5. It helps because it funds the repairs being done by volunteers on ten Rockaway homes on that same day, and directly contributes to a similar rebuild project being planned for Long Beach in the spring.
