“We ask for the sake of street safety that the City of Long Beach add on a few extra routes to the Ice Arena and that they actually publish a clear schedule of the loop buses with a map of stops, displayed at every stop”

Various facebook groups are reporting how the city will not add extra bus routes to the Ice Arena for FIRST NIGHT celebration on New Years Eve. Long Beach Streets is also asking for the city to please post a clear schedule of the West End Bus routes.

Driving on New Years Eve always scares the crap out of me. With the amount of bars that we have combined with the drinking culture of Long Beach, this is definitely a major concern.

We ask for the sake of street safety that the City of Long Beach, New York add on a few extra routes to the Ice Arena and that they actually publish a clear schedule of the loop buses with a map of stops, displayed at every stop.

With the amount of cars and drinking on New Years Eve, we want no crashes and no fatalities. Urging residents and visitors to hop on a bus rather than drive is safer and smarter.

  1. Thanks CPeck however that outdated schedule and map lack actual bus stops. It is painful to even look at.

City Councilman Scott Mandell announced the bus service for New Years Eve night is the usual late night schedule = the City of Long Beach is doing nothing except waiving the fare.
It will be the same hourly schedule. There is no bus route to the Ice Arena for the City sponsored NYE event.

This is irresponsible and dangerous as once again the transportation department lacks vision to move people safely. Fuck it, lets just drive to the bar.
