Long Beach Green Party meeting [Monday 4/6/15]

(Disclaimer: I, Anthony, am not affiliated/registered with any political party)

From Joey Naham: I’m having a long beach green party meeting: Monday 4/6/15 @5:30 location: Gentle Brew.  The Green Party candidate for Governor, Howie Hawkins, earned more than 160,000 votes in the last election cycle. There are now more than 1,500 registered green party members in Nassau County. The Green Party is now 4th on the ballot.

The Nassau County Green Party wants to organize. We are developing our Nassau County Green Party Platform. If you would like to meet fellow members and contribute to crafting our county platform please join the meet and greet of fellow Green Party neighbors!

The Platform is in development, but these are the ideas being discussed:

  • Stream line solar roof permitting process between county, towns, and incorporated villages in Nassau County.
  • Property transfer tax for homes sold in the county worth one million or more (county would get revenue)
  • Oppose privatization of county owned infrastructure
  • Support stock transfer tax as part of New York State Green Party platform
  • Oppose alienation of county park land
  • Ban plastic bags and Styrofoam
  • Eliminate red light camerasThe upcoming meet and greet will be fun and informative. Hope to see you there.

  1. Solar is not the answer. Its only a very small part of energy generation. It can,t handle the demand level. Clean natural gas and nuclear is the better direction. Unfortunately some leftist fa atics were allowed to kill the nuclear plant on LI and now we are suffering by bailing out the bond holders. No good on the property transfer tax on homes. Taxation is not the answer since revenue is always stolen for other reasons. Besides its a form of redistribution of wealth. The million dollar lkmit is very small for NY due to inflation. Don’t forget it was the environmental wackos who eliminted paper bags because they thought we would run out of trees. Now we have had an increase in oil procesing to make plastic bgs that don’t compost in the garbage. Watch out for the Greenies, they have ulterior leftwing agendas.
