“I was told there’s a zoning board hearing coming up. The proposal is to turn it into studio apartments. The parking lot is shared with the sports club.
This might be the best and only use for that particular building. Now before you get your underpants in a twist over parking and traffic, I don’t think either will be impacted. It’s a small building. How many apartments are we talking about? Not many. Impact will be minimal. Studio apartments would serve the concept of smart development: walking distance to everything (LIRR, beach, stores, movies, food). Parking issues? Naaaaaaa. There is a parking lot right there. Also, NIMBY-folks, don’t you just hate seeing so much vacant space?
Hey, maybe with more people living in that area, the strip of stores nearby will fill up. DiSalvo’s, Kids by the Sea & East Meets West are all vacant. That’s three out of seven stores… yikes!
Keep in mind, this is all just a rumor. If you don’t like the studio apartment idea, what else would you do with this building? I really don’t think a medical office would work anymore.
