I blogged about this building exactly a month ago when I wrote:

“I was told there’s a zoning board hearing coming up. The proposal is to turn it into studio apartments. The parking lot is shared with the sports club. [LINK]

It turns out the rumor is true. I have no idea if the building will have all studios, 1 br or 2brs, but I’m a fan of this plan because there is literally nothing else to do there. More stores are not needed and that part of Long Beach needs a good shot in the arm, IMHO.
