Tax breaks are for the wrong area. [opinion]

I went on this rant on a private Facebook group. I might as well share it here: I support tax breaks for our bay area between the train tracks and Long Beach Blvd, north of North Park. It’s an industrial garbage-collecting mess with views of Manhattan, sunsets and the bay. It’s ripe for something wonderful, but it’s a wasteland that once housed an incinerator and could be contaminated.

It could be a ‘marina, waterfront restaurant, seal cruise, water taxi to Freeport and Point Lookout, science/nature center, aquarium, amphitheater’ wonderland.

See my old photo post of this area.

I do not support tax breaks for oceanfront property that sits on our beautiful new boardwalk and is walking distance to the LIRR and downtown.

Here’s the event page for the February 24th meeting: Nassau County IDA istar Long Beach MeetingSomething tells me a lot of out-of-towners will be there against us residents.

Wednesday, February 24 at 6:30 PM.City Hall.
