Join us for the inaugural Long Island event – World Day of Remembrance for Traffic Victims- Long Island.
We will meet in Long Beach for a rally / press conference on the boardwalk, then do a commemorative ride through LB, looping around Island Park and back. Bike map will be uploaded shortly – this is a family friend ride, we will have a long & short route.
We have specific asks of our leaders, as we seek a collaborative approach to work on traffic safety, increasing walkability and cycling routes and stronger laws (3-feet legislation) to protect cyclists in New York.
Asks specific to Long Beach include bike lanes painted on the boardwalk, expedited protected bike lanes on Park and transparent community-driven planning. Island Park, we ask for the Complete Streets project be re-evaluated to reflect the chaning business locations, and expedited in light of the recent fatalities.
Sponsored by New York Bicycling Coalition Long Island Chapter, CLIMB in partnership with New York Coalition for Transportation Safety – NYCTS

ABOUT THIS DAY: The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (#WDR) is commemorated on the third Sunday of November each year to remember the many millions killed and injured on the World’s Roads, together with their families and many others also affected, as well as reflect on the tremendous burden and cost of this daily continuing disaster.
