When you go east on Park Ave which becomes Lido Blvd, right before the loop parkway there is a sign that says Lido Beach Passive Nature Area. It’s a great little nature walk not too far from Long Beach. Sometimes I spend way too much time at the beach, it’s nice to see what’s going on in the bay side.
The factory in Island Park sort of kills the image, but if you look close enough (enlarge the photo) you can see Manhattan in the background.
This past Sunday, My wife and I decided to visit a neighbor beach town – Point Lookout. We just walked along the beach to the Jones Inlet. We saw a bunch of birds such as Eider ducks, Harlequin ducks, Brant geese, & Long-tailed ducks. It’s nice to once in a while see what else is happening on this barrier island. I definitely suggest parking at the Point Lookout Town Park and walking east on the beach towards Point Lookout District Park. Here are a few pics that I took:
