Long Beach was always known for its beaches and its amazing boardwalk. In the last few years, Long Beach established itself as a place to go for a wonderful array of restaurants. But shopping mecca?
It used to be that if me or any of my Long Beach neighbors needed to do some serious shopping we had to leave our wonderful island, go across a bridge and head to the mall. Not anymore. In the last year or so Long Beach has become a place to shop. Five new boutiques have opened in the last year that cover all your fashionable necessities:
Take a stroll beginning at Long Beach Rd and head west on Park Ave. The first new store you will encounter is Lil Towheads (156 E. Park Ave). Whether you need to dress your kids, grandchildren, get a gift for a baby shower….Melissa at Lil Towheads has a wonderful selection of clothing and accessories for the younger fashionistas.
Need a new pair of shoes? Go see Roz at Pheobe’s (140 E. Park Ave). The unique selection of shoes and accessories rivals the coolest Soho store. Without ever catching a train, you can dress your feet in style! Pheobe’s has some great jewelry, belts and gift items as well. Lines offered include Ed Hardy, Frye, Carlos Santana, Fergie and Old Gringo . Roz’s friendly staff is knowledgeable, courteous and fun!
Continuing on your trek west, after you cross Riverside Blvd, you will come to Pinup Clothing Boutique (58A E. Park Ave). Come say hi to me (Andrea) or one of my daughters. Pinup solves most of our closet concerns and can do the same for you. We have unique comfortable , contemporary clothing for women of any age. Some of the lines at Pinup are L.A. Made, Lucky Brand, Splendid, Bobi, and Velvet…just to name a few. We offer you fun clothing for daytime or for going out to one of our great restaurants or bars. Pinup also stocks Spanx(slimming undergarments) and Havianas(flip flops…the uniform for all Long Beach feet!)
Head a few doors down and you will find Josef -Rose (46 E. Park Ave). To complete your look, you need a handbag, of course. Diana and her mom carry a huge selection of handbags in every price range-from black tie to beach and in between. Josef-Rose also has both men’s and women’s belts, wallets and a wide array of small leather goods. Lines offered include Lockheart, Isabella Fiore, Rafe, Francisco Biasia, Leatherock, Sondro Roberts, Kipling, Hobo, Junior Drake, Chocolat Blu and Avignon.
Need a dressy dress for an affair or the prom?….then you need to visit Frock! Frock is a chic boutique specializing in dresses for every occasion….from fashionable frocks to cocktail and formal looks. Go visit Stephanie in the west end (888 West Beech St) of town for her expertise with the chic and eclectic. Some of Frock’s lines include Badgley Mischka, Flip, Niteline by Aidan Matlox, Helena Sorel and Priorities. And,did I tell you that Stephanie can accommodate alterations if needed?
Why go to the mall anymore? Melissa, Roz, Andrea, Diana and Stephanie can satisfy all your fashionable desires.
And an added plus…..we all live in Long Beach, too. So, if you just feel like a visit and some local gossip….we’d all love to chat…… “ I saw you on the boardwalk this morning! What class did you take at the gym? Where did you go for happy hour? Oh really…she’s getting married? Its your birthday?, What are you doing this weekend? Do you believe what she was wearing? Wow, she got accepted to all her college choices! So sorry to hear about your loss. When’s the Allegria opening? Can’t wait for beach weather! Etc, etc, etc. You can’t chat like that at those mall stores…that’s for sure.
