Long Beach Herald – After the blaze. Construction begins on Park Ave. building lost in fire
“The new stores, which will occupy 118 to 134 E. Park Ave., between Riverside and Long Beach boulevards, will have a more contemporary feel instead of the Spanish-style architecture that was popular in the 1940s and ’50s, when the building was constructed. “It’s really going to stand out and be a showpiece on Park Avenue,” Rettner said.”
This is terrible…. so much for preserving the historic look of our commercial district. According to the article, the Long Beach Historical Society agrees. Well, the new look better not be fucco, but I have a feeling it will be.
