4 Replies to “5th Annual Folk 2 Funk Festival [March 27th – 29th]”

  1. Nice event. Does the City Council VP and her husband run this event? If so, is the income reported? Does she get special treatment in order to profit from this? It may sound like buzzkill, but there are dozens of these wink and nod deals with this administration that just seem to be a shrug for average residents. This is what gives the City such a bad image for real events.

  2. This event wasn’t run by Fran Addleson but her hand picked Director of Youth Services Johanna Materson. Fran’s pal has killed the City Child Care Program ( income is down almost $ 1,000,000 ) and we have had numerous child abuse reports since her takeover but she runs a hell of a Funk Festival. And the icing on the cake is Fran’s husband highlights the opening night of the Festival. Only in Long Beach.

  3. You mean the best event that never happened don’t you?

The City cancelled 99% of the land events allegedly because of Irene related damage and issues. Some said it had to do with overtime for City workers but who knows

The surf contest went ahead with a very decent swell, world class competitors and good weather.

I beleve Quicksilver lost money and may have sued the City but don’t know the ultimate outcome except they vowed never to return to LB.
